Intention and Attachment

In Vedic Meditation we're instructed not to emphasize a particular outcome or a singular experience. We have an intention to think our mantra, but we find it disappears spontaneously.  We're left with silence or thoughts, or both one after the other. We need to make a distinction between intention and attachment.  We have a preference to to think our mantra, and to come back to it once it gets replaced with some other thought or experience.  However, we're not riveted to our mantra, meaning that we embrace a willingness to let it go it.  And when we let it go, we can

How to Live

Each of us has our own unique path. In the Vedic Tradition, we say that each individual has their own dharma, their own purpose and role within the process of Evolution. The more we live our own dharma, the more frictionless life is. So when we experience less friction, that's how we know we're on the right path. Frictionless does not mean non-action or non-effort. In fact, there can be quite a bit of activity involved. However, it is performed in an inspirational way. As meditators, we locate our path through the mechanism of following charm. Rearranging Reality

Reality is not weak. It is our perception of it that is weak. Specifically, it is a weakness of perception that yields anything other than Unity, or Oneness. A wave is already connected to the Ocean. The Ocean is the source of the wave. Without the Ocean, the wave simply wouldn't exist. When we are caught up in our wave status - our individuality - we forget that which is our source, and that which connects us to all the other wave forms. Our Universal nature is part of who we are too, but it is so easily forgotten when

Ignorance and Realization

Whether through accumulated stress or the mechanism of social conditioning, we may have become habituated to the practice of ignoring subtle changes. These subtle changes give rise to vital information on how to act in accordance with the needs or demands of the moment. In that moment, we may have some flicker of awareness - either on the level of the intellect, or on the more subtle level of the intuition - that we discount or disregard. Meditation: The Coherent State

Luckily we don't have to take steroids in order to improve our brain functioning. Regular meditation is all the juice we need. When water boils, the water molecules move helter-skelter, quite rapidly. But when water freezes, the molecules arrange themselves into that near-perfect, matrix-like crystalline structure we call ice. De-excitation - in this case induced through the cooling process - gives rise to greater orderliness. (more…)

Finding Our Edge. . . Finding My Edge

Many times people run away from feelings or emotions that are confronting. Fearing judgement from others. Fearing judgement toward one’s self. In the developed world, we are conditioned to blindly shuffle from one indoor task to another without taking time to lift our heads and make eye contact or physical connection; without putting down our forks in between chews, without questioning why we must have Monday office meetings or obey silly laws or eat the food given to us. We are taught to stop crying, stop feeling, and suppress our emotions that help us to understand the truth within
