Meditation: Spending Wisely

The most valuable asset each of us owns is our attention.  It is like currency.  Our attention funds and provides growth to all that we are attending.  So it is important to take care with how it flows. Whenever a demand or a change of expectations is made upon us, as meditators, we are able to make a choice and ask ourselves the question: where will I place my attention right now? We can focus on the worst possible interpretation of the event or circumstances and construct an assumption-laden story-line to support that viewpoint.  (more…)

Stones and Gems for Grounding (Grounds 1st/Base Root Chakra)

One of my favorite uses for stones and gems is for the purpose of feeling grounded, rooted in a solid foundation of comfort and decisiveness. Without getting too metaphysical, to be grounded means to allow the energy inside of your body flow alongside the energy and the environment around you (in a complete circle or circuit. This will allow for optimal health and wellness because a good sense of grounding means you feel good at where you are at that moment in time. Many people use meditation or another type of calming hobby/exercise to practice grounding. Taking your shoes off

Top Foods That Melt Away Anxiety, Worry and Stress

There are certain power foods in most of our reach that can help fight off the feelings of nervousness, anxiety, worry and stress. While there are no magic foods or pills out there, people should know that incorporating specific foods have been scientifically proven to calm nerves and lift mood. A general key when it comes to foods that reduce stress and anxiety is to find foods that are high in zinc, iron, B vitamins, vitamin C, iodine and magnesium (commonly lost from the body during the stress response). The following are my favorite picks for go-to-options when feeling worried,

Meditation and How to Love

In order to Love, we must first Understand. In order to Understand, we must Appreciate. In order to Appreciate, we must Perceive. In order to Perceive, we must Purify our senses. Our  senses are the instruments through which we experience the physical world.  Our bodies are the housing for them. Without a body we would have no sensory experience, and therefore no physical experience of  life. Better Ways to Reach Happiness Than Anti-Depressants

According to a recent article in CNN Health, there are some 30 to 50 million Americans taking psychiatric drugs and a growing number of those are for treating depression. The "sad" but statistically sure skyrocketing rates of these medicine taking patients are not all becoming "happy" and well after taking them, however. As researchers are finding out, the majority of those taking anti-deppressants are not beaming with joy. Actually, in a study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, only one-third of patients achieved remission of depressive symptoms, defined as becoming symptom-free. (more…)

Meditation: I AM

When we recognize our identity solely as individuality, we experience life on the surface.  Our sense of self is derived from our relationships, our job, our career, our possessions, our home, our wealth, our race, our political leanings, our religion and on and on.  In an endless combination of all these things, our identity shifts and changes depending on whatever the situation demands.  We have an identity in flux.  And we look for what we can hold on to  that will allow us to feel stable and safe. In meditation, we recognize our identity as one thing:  I am. Wholeness.  This sense of identity is

Meditation: The Nectar

Through meditation we discover the nectar within.  Pure Being. When the   physiology that is in accordance with Being is printed out, all behaviors flow from that place.  All desires flow from it. And  ultimately, all actions flow from it. When we are in accordance with Being, everything flows from our one true Self. Through  our daily meditation practice, we establish ourselves in Being  first, and then take action. In this sequence, action is more powerful, more  frictionless and ultimately more fruitful. Good to Know Health Facts and Findings

Live happier and healthier: A study in the Archives of Internal Medicine notes that, "People who tend to think positively may reduce their risk of dying from heart related conditions and stroke by over 55%!" Better skin? A study from Colorado State University at Fort Collins found that eating an excess of food that spike insulin levels (cake, soda and white bread) as well as refined carbs and fried foods may stimulate hormones responsible for oil overproduction and clogged pores. Cut back on the junk foods for a zit and wrinkle free face. Get more zinc and possibly more love:
