The Many Benefits of Massage and Physical Touch

There is no better therapy out there (for almost any ailment) than physical massage therapy. Let’s take it more fundamental than massage therapy and call it physical connection, touch and energy exchange. On the most basic level, living things need touch to survive, thrive and feel connected and happy. Cut to professional massage: Okay, maybe there are a few other wonderful treatment alternatives to melt away the anxiety, relieve aches and pains and leave you feeling like floating on cloud 9 (like a piece of hot molten lava cake while sitting in a hammock over looking Bora Bora waters). Once touted as a luxury for the insanely rich or famous athlete, modern day massage therapy (either for recovery, relaxation or lymphatic drainage) is no longer only offered in upscale spas, resorts and health clubs. Today, massage therapy is offered in businesses, clinics, hospitals, in your own home, and even airports. Let’s learn about the many health benefits of massage, no matter if you are an infant or centurion senior.

The Whole Purpose of Meditation

Every thought we have is a stream of energy and intelligence. We know thoughts are energy because they can be measured as electrical impulses via an electroencephalogram (EEG).  And, we know thoughts have intelligence because each one is about something very specific.

There are many great points in his books and I wanted to share a quick chart he explains which according to psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, exemplifies flow (a state in which one is immersed in an experience that is rewarding in and of itself, where action and awareness are merged, and where happiness tends to find us).

Meditation and the Mantra

There are many forms of meditation out there and certainly giving yourself time to engage in relaxation and meditation (no matter what form) is better than nothing. Specifically, for people who practice Transcendental or Vedic Meditation, a mantra is used, along with effortless breathing, to fully “transcend” and reach “bliss”, where anxiety and stress melt away and the body begins to release. The mantra, a simple collection of sounds or words is used as a focus for the person meditating, but is essentially a forgetting device. Based on sound quality alone, a Vedic Meditation mantra is a forgettable thought. In fact, one of its properties is to cause the mind to forget what it is doing.

Medical Marijuana: A Look Into How It Helps

With all the controversy with marijuana (for as long as people can remember), it is definitely a subject that holds great debate. Even its many nick names can bring about a different attitude or feeling. Medical cannabis, another popular alternative name, has reached great popularity as a form of natural and alternative healing across many health (including traditional, clinical, modern eastern and western) mediums and culture. Marijuana is used, for different purposes (recreational or medicinal) and by people of all ages. This article is a fundamental outline of the most popular medicinal uses for the green plant. Politics (so far 20 states in the United States have passed legislation for the use of legal medicinal marijuana), morale, culture, religion, personal creed, society and individual opinions aside, the following are helpful reasons why people use the herb to help their body and minds.

Emotional Eating: Causes and Tips

Do you find yourself constantly headed to the snack machine, kitchen pantry, refrigerator or digging in your children’s “snack/junk” drawer (even when you are not really hungry?) Learning About Reiki: Fundamentals 101

What is an Overview of Reiki?

Reiki was developed in 1922 in Japan by Mikao Usui. Reiki is the awareness that an unseen energy flows through all living things and affects the quality of a person’s health. If your life energy is low, you have a harder time being able to deal with stress; you may not sleep well, and are more susceptible to illness. If your life energy is high or strong you feel like a strong person, can deal with stress better, and are less likely to get sick. Reiki is what increases a person’s supply of life energy.

Meditation: Spending Wisely

The most valuable asset each of us owns is our attention.  It is like currency.  Our attention funds and provides growth to all that we are attending.  So it is important to take care with how it flows. Whenever a demand or a change of expectations is made upon us, as meditators, we are able to make a choice and ask ourselves the question: where will I place my attention right now? We can focus on the worst possible interpretation of the event or circumstances and construct an assumption-laden story-line to support that viewpoint.
