People Living and Battling Cancer:Top Foods to Avoid

I came across an article in the International Food Journal Microbial (1993) by David Lawrence Dewey, who is passionate about spreading the truth about orthodox medicine and alternative routes to wellness. In a presentation to the World Health Organization, he published a study that showcases how specific ingredients in the foods we consume are really the killers and exacerbaters of cancer within our bodies. Foods that are acidic forming, fungal producing, processed foods and ones that are inflammatory should be taught to all people living with cancer, trying to beat it or have survived cancer. His information made a lot of sense to read and I thought I would highlight many of the specifics.

Nausea: Pregnancy, Vertigo, Headaches, Motion Sickness- Foods that Help

Whether you are pregnant and experiencing morning sickness, have a bad case of vertigo that won’t go away, food borne illness, hormone induced head pains, have sinus headaches from environmental high pressure or have equilibrium challenges from movement or unstable inner ear liquids, nausea is a lingering nemesis that is ruining your ability to function. Chronic nausea takes every ounce of movement your body completes and exacerbates the un-comfortableness, leaving you miserable. People who suffer from nausea (one form or another) probably experiences food aversions and refrains from eating, for the thought of food may stimulate gag reflexes. Some research shows a large portion of people, especially women, who experience nausea, do so because they are not eating and drinking enough nourishment and have low blood sugar.

Vacations: Hotels, Amusement Parks and Healthy Breakfasts

After a week-long stay-cation in a local San Diego hotel with my close and extended families, I was reminded yet again, why educating yourself (and anyone else that cares about health and wellness) is so important. We all chose to stay in a well rated hotel that, like almost all of the 3 to 5 star places, offer a complimentary breakfast and occasional snack and light dinner. Babies, toddlers and young children flooded the lobby slash cafeteria, filling their bowls with multi-colored fruit loops, fluffy Belgium waffles drowning in syrup with whip cream and powdered sugar, and a tall glass of chocolate milk. Their parents pilled heaps of bacon, sausage, biscuits with gravy, and scrambled eggs with cheese, accompanied with juice and coffee on the side. All families glued their eyes to their own technological gadget or television monitor during the entire meal. I realize that vacations are meant for families to relax and eat foods that serve as “treats” and throw in the towel to calorie counting and there is no such thing as too much T.V. The sad part is, however, there is scary reason why the majority of people in the United States are overweight and more than half are obese. It’s not because of seldom “vacations with free breakfasts.” It is because most people are not aware, educating themselves, and are not actively executing a healthier way to nourish and feed themselves and their families the right types and amount of foods. It is because the level of physical body movement is almost non-existent for a large amount of people, and it is because of the strategic marketing, agricultural and political agendas placed upon the people by big powers such as oil, pharmaceutical, governmental, agricultural and insurance companies that have helped people of the United States pay top dollars for healthcare, only to become sicker and more obese than ever before.

There has ben rising controversy between trusted health institutions, such as the American Heart Association , the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the Institute of Medicine and the Center for Disease Control as to the proper healthy levels of sodium the average person should consume on a daily basis. The many reports that have been conducted to arrive at such conclusions range from 1,500 mg daily to 2,300 mg or more a day. While statistical trends on sodium consumption across western nations seem to keep rising, there are reports that prove otherwise, that sodium consumption is down. Moroccan Miracle: Argan Oil

There are many amazing benefits of Argan Oil (similar to olive oil, but is much more expensive, lives longer (250-400 years) and the tree needs no cultivating. Used by the Moroccan people and known as the “Tree of Life” the Argan tree is used for healing, protecting, domestic and medicinal purposes. Not one part of the entire tree is wasted. The leaves and fruit sustain local animals (cattle, goats, camels and sheep), the oil for human use and the nut shells are used for oil. Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the tree and is one of the rarest and most expensive oils in the world. Just like many indigenous or amazonian fruits, nuts, seeds and oils, this is the next popular “miracle” food for the health conscious. It is extremely high levels of Vitamin E and 80% fatty acids and is promised to help people with skin irritations and skin problems because it protects against premature aging caused by oxidation.
