Rearranging Reality

Reality is not weak. It is our perception of it that is weak.
Specifically, it is a weakness of perception that yields anything other than Unity, or Oneness.
A wave is already connected to the Ocean. The Ocean is the source of the wave. Without the Ocean, the wave simply wouldn’t exist.
When we are caught up in our wave status – our individuality – we forget that which is our source, and that which connects us to all the other wave forms. Our Universal nature is part of who we are too, but it is so easily forgotten when there are bills to pay, appointments to keep and runny noses to wipe.
Every wave finds its source in the same Ocean. That means my Universal nature is the same as yours, and for everyone else.
Those are nice words, yet ultimately meaningless without direct experience.
Meditation provides context and direct experience of our own least excited state. When a wave is de-excited, and individuality is transcended, what remains is the Ocean. A great, big Ocean of Oneness – you are that, and I am that too.
Then the phone rings and we lose that connection, and are back to wave-to-wave communication and relationship. Oneness segments into Other, and we experience a vast sea of difference.
That’s where regular practice of meditation comes in. The more we do it, the longer we can maintain our least excited state. After some time, the impression from experiencing Oneness leaks into our daily activity. First for a few minutes, then for a few hours. It’s a slow but steady progression as we strengthen our perception of Unity.
So we can go that route, and change how we perceive reality, and eventually become a master of it. Or we can try to rearrange reality and make it consistently demonstrate Oneness. So far, no person has succeeded with that approach.

Unacceptable Levels examines the results of the chemical revolution of the 1940s through the eyes of affable filmmaker Ed Brown, a father seeking to understand the world in which he and his wife are raising their children. To create this debut documentary, one man and his camera traveled extensively to find and interview top minds in the fields of science, advocacy, and law. Weaving their testimonies into a compelling narrative, Brown presents us with the story of how the chemical revolution brought us to where we are, and of where, if we’re not vigilant, it may take us.
