It will help her relax and who doesn’t like a little good-for-you pampering?
Below are 8 ingredients of staples to make your Mother’s Day gift. Be creative and have fun. When it comes to DIY and homemade face (and body) scrubs, masks and washes, there really is no wrong way to cook up your concoction when you are using real and natural ingredients. Use 2-5 drops of your own choice of therapeutic grade essential oils in each mask or scrub application, or 8-10 drops per 4-8 ounce glass jar (as essential oils may degrade plastic containers) and decorate it with a little hemp chord, lace, or ribbon.
8 Face Scrub, Mask and Wash Essentials:
1. Raw Honey
Helps skin retain moisture.
Heals dry or chapped skin and can give you firmer, smoother skin.
Apply 1 teaspoon of warm raw honey to 1 teaspoon of fresh milk or plain yogurt to the skin for a healing, moisturizing and restorative treatment at home. Leave on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing. For more sensitive skin, substitute the dairy for 1 teaspoon of aloe vera.
2. Olive oil
Loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances that are good for your heart.
Olive oil in diets or used topically may reduce inflammation and free radical damage, and prevent wrinkling.
Mix 2 tablespoons of warm raw honey (microwave honey for 15-20 seconds) and olive oil together. Put mask on for 5 minutes and rinse. For a scrub, add in 2 teaspoons of brown sugar and gently scrub face in circular motion.
Avocados are a great source for heart-healthy monounsaturated fats.
Vitamin B and potassium that can also help moisturize the skin.
Acts as an exfoliating mask for dry skin.
Mash up half an avocado and mix it with a teaspoon of olive oil to create a rich paste. Apply it to the skin and leave it to dry for about 15 to 20 minutes. I like to use a drop or two of lavender essential oils for additional skin conditioning and relaxation. Rinse off.
Bananas exfoliate and give new life to a dull complexion.
They also moisturize, and are great for all types of skin.
If you have some overripe bananas on hand, mash them up and mix with oatmeal or just use the paste alone to create a nourishing at-home mask. Try a drop or two of both Lavender and lemon essential oils to this mask. You’ll love the invigorating blend.

Oatmeal also has a great way of drawing out skin toxins.
Combine a few teaspoons of oat flour with some warm milk, water or heavy cream to create a rich, skin-nourishing treatment. I suggest to open up a vitamin E gel capsule and mix it in as well, along with Lavender and Lemon essential oils. This mixture will not dry very quickly but can soften the skin and infuse the pores with moisture. Put mixture onto face and neck for 15-20 minutes. Relax and enjoy.

Put 5 de-stemmed strawberries directly on face by mushing them into a mask, or by just rubbing them over your skin. For a mask that has anti-acne and anti-bacterial agents for tightening skin, combine the strawberry mixture with 1 tablespoon of heated raw honey (microwave honey for 15-20 seconds), and add ¼ of a lemon wedge or 2-4 drops of Lemon essential oils. Place onto skin for 10 minutes. Rinse.
Use the whole egg or just an egg white.
The whole egg will offer a little more moisturizing.
The egg white alone will firm your skin and tighten pores.
Rub egg mixture it over a clean face. Let it dry. This is the most simple, easy, egg-white facial mask. For a variation, add a few teaspoons of dry oats and Roman Chamomile or Rose Essential oil to wheat germ oil and apply onto face. This mixture is great for dry skin. For more oily skin, replace oats for kaolin or green clay, add 1/2 cup of rose water and add in Jojoba, Frankincense and Myrrh essential oils.
8. Lemon juice or Lemon Essential Oils
Really brightening for the skin.
Lemon juice tightens up pores.
Cuts through oil and squeaky cleans your face to a nice, bright shine.
Put 3 tablespoons of natural yogurt or sour cream into small bowl and mix with 3-4 drops of essential lemon oil or ¼ lemon wedge. Put mixture of Lemon juice and directly on face (wash off within 5 minutes, so you do not over-lemon yourself) or add it to an egg-white. Add Lavender Essential oils and avocados (1 teaspoon) for a nice moisturizing mask. Replace avocados for brown sugar for a great skin brightening scrub.
